The easiest access to the Shipwrights when approaching Ipswich is via the A14. Leave the A14 by the Wherstead exit on the A137, as you leave the interchange the Ipswich ski slope will be on your right hand side as you descend the hill.
At the bottom of the hill turn left at the roundabout and proceed down the Wherstead Road (at this point you enter a 30 mph speed limit). Pass down the road under the iron railway. Over the next roundabout and to the next one. Here take the exit to the left, up to the traffic lights. Turn right and the Shipwrights will be visible on your right hand side. There is some car parking available in the yard at the rear through the tunnel entrance.

If approaching from the town, cross the Stoke Bridge keeping to the left lane. Past the pedestrian controlled lights to the roundabout. Take the right turn off the circle and at the next roundabout take the right turn again up to the traffic lights and turn right again. The Shipwrights is then on your right hand side.
